Slip resistance testing under ASTM methods conducted by Fiberon on Fiberon decking products met or exceeded the recommendations of OSHA. Although there is currently no building code requirement for minimum slip resistance, Fiberon Paramount Decking has has been found to have high slip resistance when tested according to ASTM testing with a dry/wet rating of .85/.82 on a scale from 0 to 1. Many factors may affect slip resistance, including shoe tread, stride, speed of stride, debris on surface, amount of moisture present and weight.
Road ice is safe for use on Fiberon decking, but caution should be used when walking or working on any icy surface. Salts my leave behind a white residue after any ice is no longer present, and this residue can be washed away using the methods in the Care and Maintenance guide above.
